Terms

Terms and conditions for PictureCloud

These terms cover the PictureCloud Android app and website, operated by Marius Potfer.

Effective date: 22 August 2026

By using PictureCloud, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app or website. Mandatory consumer rights in your country remain unaffected.

What PictureCloud provides

PictureCloud provides an experimental visual cloud-photo classifier, a cloud field guide, and related educational material. Classification takes place locally in the Android app or browser. The service currently has no user accounts, public posting, social feed, or cloud photo-storage feature.

Educational use and weather safety

PictureCloud is not a forecast or safety serviceDo not rely on it for severe-weather, aviation, marine, hiking, travel, agricultural, emergency, or other safety-sensitive decisions. Use official meteorological forecasts, warnings, and qualified professional advice.

A model result can be wrong. The classifier always chooses from its available labels and has no Clear or unknown class. Scores are comparative model outputs, not guaranteed probabilities. Cloud appearance alone does not supply reliable height, motion, pressure, temperature, or surrounding atmospheric conditions.

Permitted use

You may use PictureCloud for personal observation, learning, and other lawful purposes. You agree not to:

  • use the service unlawfully or to harm another person;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, or bypass the security of the website or its hosting;
  • misrepresent PictureCloud results as official meteorological information;
  • use automated requests in a way that materially interferes with availability for others; or
  • remove or misrepresent notices about limitations, attribution, or ownership when redistributing material for which redistribution is otherwise permitted.

Your photographs and device data

You remain responsible for photographs you take or select and for respecting privacy, property, and intellectual-property rights when taking them. PictureCloud does not claim ownership of a photograph merely because you process it locally. Saved app observations remain in app storage under your control, subject to the app’s history limit and your device’s storage behavior.

Intellectual property

PictureCloud’s branding, interface design, original writing, and original visual assets are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party software, datasets, publications, trademarks, and reference material remain subject to their respective owners’ terms. Links and citations do not imply endorsement.

These terms grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, revocable right to use the published app and website as provided. They do not grant a license to redistribute the application source code, model binary, branding, or site content. Any separately published source-code license or third-party license controls the material to which it applies.

Privacy, analytics, and advertising

The Privacy Policy explains local photo processing, app analytics that is enabled initially but can be disabled, website analytics that requires permission, hosting data, and conditional mobile advertising. By using optional features, you also agree to the terms of any applicable platform or provider.

Third-party services and links

PictureCloud relies on services or software provided by Google, Firebase, Amplitude, jsDelivr, Flutter, LiteRT, and other open-source projects. External links—including meteorological references—lead to sites PictureCloud does not control. Their availability, content, and data practices are governed by their operators.

Availability and updates

The service may change, receive updates, become temporarily unavailable, or be discontinued. Browser, operating-system, store, and dependency changes can affect compatibility. The operator may correct content, modify features, or replace integrations when reasonably necessary for security, maintenance, legal obligations, or product development.

Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, PictureCloud is provided “as is” and “as available,” without a guarantee that classifications, educational descriptions, links, or service availability will always be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, or suitable for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty or remedy that cannot legally be excluded.

Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on PictureCloud, particularly when the service is used contrary to the safety limitations above. Liability is not excluded where exclusion is prohibited, including liability that applicable law does not allow a service provider to limit.

Suspension of abusive access

The operator may take proportionate technical measures to restrict access that attacks, disrupts, scrapes abusively, or otherwise threatens the service or other visitors. Because PictureCloud has no user accounts or public content system, it does not currently perform account termination or content moderation.

Governing terms and changes

These terms are governed by French law, subject to any mandatory consumer protections and jurisdiction rules that apply where you live. If one provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply. These terms and the Privacy Policy form the agreement for the service unless another specific written agreement applies.

The terms may be updated when PictureCloud or applicable requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Continued use after an update means the updated terms apply from their effective date, except where additional notice or consent is legally required.

Questions about these terms can be sent to Marius Potfer at los12monkeys@gmail.com.

These terms were written to match the current PictureCloud product rather than account, upload, or social features it does not provide. They should be reviewed for the operator’s jurisdiction and final store configuration; they are not a substitute for professional legal advice.
